• Installation
The program requires any Macintosh running HyperCard 2.1 or a more recent version.
You will need about 1 M of disk space to load the complete system with all the help files and the tools. The core program itself weighs in at about 120 K.
Copy the “Dock” folder to your hard disk, and run “Dock Installer” before entering the hypertext.
• Reading
Once the installation is finished, open the overview stack ,“Dock Help”. The “Dock Help” hypertext provides quick access to help anytime while you construct your own hypertext. The help system also provides a thorough illustration of all the features of the program.
• Creating
You will have no trouble seeing how the basic tools provided by Dock are a natural response to the hypertext situation, as you write. Key topics for hypertext creation are: handling standard documents, context creation, and defining active text. These are explained in the help files.
• Runtime
The “Dock Programs” folder includes only the files “lysRes”, “lysDNode”, “lysLink”, “Dock Programs Installer”, and “Dock Programs Read Me”. These constitute the smallest possible runtime package needed to support existing hypertext.
• Space Dock
This program is complemented by the “Space Dock” package. Space Dock offers flexible user–defined databases for further integration of stack systems. It also contains formats for single–stack hypertext applications which work without any shared stacks. Space Dock is 100% compatible with Dock Hypertext systems.
• More Information
DOCK and SPACE DOCK are made available as shareware ($50).
